We asked our clients what they thought were the most successful methods of getting candidates and, unsurprisingly, the web came out on top.
53% of people ranked horizontal job boards as the top place for success followed by niche boards such as Totally Financial and London Careers.
Only a fraction of recruiters opted for print as their preferred method of attracting candidates, however, more used it in conjunction with the internet as a third choice.
It seems that "Social networking" wasn't just the buzz phrase of 2007, despite many companies putting a ban on these kinds of sites, a fifth of recruiters are using social networking sites to communicate with talent. The most popular site for recruiters was Linkedin followed by Facebook, Xing and MySpace.
Most respondents thought that their own database was a useful source for finding candidates as well as internal referral schemes.
The results of the survey show that, while job boards and other web activities are a crucial part of the recruitment process, recruiters get the best results by combining the internet with good old fashioned networking!
